Scalp micropigmentation is the application of precise, follicle-sized pigment deposits to the scalp — creating the visual appearance of a closely cropped haircut, restored hairline, or increased density. It is not a tattoo in the traditional sense, though it uses similar principles. The pigment is applied at a controlled depth with needles sized specifically for follicular replication, not skin saturation.
What SMP Can Do for You
The most common treatment for men is the buzz-cut look — a full-head treatment that replicates the appearance of a freshly shaved head with a natural hairline. This is typically completed in two to three sessions and produces a result that reads as real hair in person, under direct light, and in photographs.
For men who are not fully bald, density fill adds the appearance of thicker coverage under existing hair without the need to shave. This is ideal for diffuse thinning at the crown or temples and works best when existing hair is kept short.
Men with FUT or FUE transplant scars can have those scars camouflaged to blend seamlessly with surrounding treated or untreated scalp. This is one of the most requested treatments at Sonoma County SMP.
What to Expect at Your Consultation
Every treatment starts with a private, no-pressure consultation. We discuss your goals, review healed-result examples, map a hairline if applicable, and walk through what a realistic outcome looks like for your specific scalp. There is no high-pressure booking. If SMP is not the right fit, we will tell you.
Treatment pricing is provided at consultation and depends on the size of the area, number of sessions required, and complexity of any scar work. Most full-head treatments require two to three sessions, spaced ten to fourteen days apart.
