Sonoma County's Only Dedicated SMP Studio
Stop hiding it. Start owning it.
Scalp micropigmentation that looks like a real hairline — not a procedure. Private studio. Trained specialist. Honest consultations, every time.
New to SMP?
First — here's what it actually is.
Scalp micropigmentation — SMP — is a non-surgical technique to restore the look of a fuller hairline. Using a fine needle and carbon-based pigment, tiny impressions are layered into the scalp to replicate the natural look of real hair follicles. It is not a tattoo, and the goal is never to look tattooed.
It isn't a transformation into someone new. It's you, restored — natural at every age, in every light. If you've never heard of SMP, that's exactly why the first consultation is free, private, and unhurried: to explain it honestly and tell you whether it's even the right fit.

Why This Studio
Sonoma County finally has a
dedicated SMP practice.
Most SMP in the Bay Area comes as an add-on — squeezed into a salon menu between highlights and waxing. Sonoma County SMP was built to do one thing, and only one thing: scalp micropigmentation, done properly.
You'll never be handed off to a technician you've never met. Every consultation, every session, every follow-up is Jon. That's the whole point.
Meet Jon →"I've been going to Jon for years, and he's always been straight with me. My crown has been thinning for a while, and I didn't want anything fake-looking or overdone. When he explained SMP and how subtle it could be, it actually made sense. If I'm going to trust anyone with it, it's him."
Raul M. — Tomales, CA · TopShelf client
"My hairline has been creeping back for a while, and I've talked to Jon about it during haircuts more than once. He knows I don't want anything sharp or fake-looking. When he said SMP could be done soft and natural, that's what got my attention."
Joe D. — Rohnert Park, CA · TopShelf client
"Jon has earned my trust over a lot of years, not one appointment. That matters when you're talking about something like SMP. I know he cares about the details and I know he's not going to let me walk out looking crazy."
Jerry L. — Santa Rosa, CA · TopShelf client, 10+ years
"I wouldn't go to just anyone for SMP. But Jon's been my barber for years, and he knows how I like to look. That trust is already there, so it was an easy decision to have the conversation with him first."
Shawn S. — Santa Rosa, CA · TopShelf client
"My beard grows in, but not as full as I want in certain areas. Jon has been lining me up for years, so he knows the shape I'm going for. When he explained beard density SMP, it sounded like a natural next step, not some over-the-top thing."
Alejandro M. — Santa Rosa, CA · TopShelf client

The Process
How it works — honestly.
SMP isn't magic and it isn't instant. It's a craft — layered across sessions, adjusted as your scalp heals. Here's what to expect from start to finish.
Free. No pressure. We look at your scalp, talk about your goals, and tell you honestly what SMP can and can't achieve for your specific situation.
Free — No ObligationEach session builds on the last — density, depth, and detail added in layers. Sessions are spaced 10–14 days apart to let your scalp heal and settle between appointments.
Typically 2–3 SessionsSMP fades naturally over time — refineable through occasional touch-ups. Most clients come back every 3–5 years, or when they want a refresh.

Jon Neong Sonoma County SMP · TopShelf BarbershopThe Practitioner
This isn't a side gig.
It's the next chapter.
Jon Neong has spent over a decade building trust behind the chair at TopShelf Barbershop in Sonoma County. He knows what hair loss does to a man's confidence — he's seen it up close, thousands of times.
Sonoma County SMP is what that decade made possible: a private, dedicated appearance restoration practice, rooted in the same community Jon has served for years. He trained under some of the most respected SMP practitioners in North America before opening his doors.
You'll talk to Jon first. You'll work with Jon throughout. And if SMP isn't the right fit for you, he'll tell you that too.
